May 11-12: ACME plays the music of Mick Barr & William Brittelle at The Kitchen; 5/14 at Look&Listen

New York, NY – ACME, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble, announces three New York concerts in May and an album release in June 2012. At 8pm on both Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 the group, called “one of New York’s brightest new music indie-bands” by Time Out New York, will take the stage at The Kitchen (512 W. 19th St., NYC) for two performances of the music of William Brittelle and Mick Barr. At 8pm on Monday, May 14, ACME performs Timothy Andres’ I Found it by the Sea as part of the 2012 Look & Listen Festival, held at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery (144 W. 14th St., 2nd Floor, NYC).

Mar 23: ACME and Grammy-nominated singer Theo Bleckmann perform The Music of Phil Kline at the Flynn

New York, NY – The American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) with Grammy-nominated vocalist Theo Bleckmann will perform The Music of Phil Kline at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts (153 Main Street, Burlington VT) on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 8pm. Presented in the intimacy of FlynnSpace, this downtown New York-style “salon” evening is full of new cutting-edge songs and chamber music composed by Phil Kline (“a true original” – New York Times), including selections from Kline favorites The Blue Room and Other Stories (2002), Zippo Songs (2003), Locus Solus (2006), John the Revelator (2007), The Long Winter (2009), and The Season is Over (2005) as well as a preview of two songs from Out Cold, Kline’s new song cycle for Bleckmann and ACME which will premiere in the fall of 2012.

March 4: ACME & Lionheart in premiere of Ingram Marshall work plus music by Phil Kline at Stanford

Stanford, CA – On Sunday, March 4, 2012 at 2:30pm, at Dinkelspiel Auditorium (471 Lagunita Dr., Stanford University, CA), Stanford Lively Arts will present ACME, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble, and Lionheart in concert together for the first time. Their program features the world premiere of composer Ingram Marshall’s Psalmbook, a new piece by the celebrated composer written especially for this collaboration between one of New York’s most respected new music ensembles and one of today’s leading vocal chamber music groups, commissioned by Stanford Lively Arts. The concert will also include Phil Kline’s beloved John the Revelator performed by ACME and Lionheart, and Ingram Marshall’s Fog Tropes II performed by ACME.

Oct 25: ACME gives free concert at Joe's Pub presented by Sequenza21 and Manhattan New Music Project

New York, NY – ACME (American Contemporary Music Ensemble) will perform a free concert at Joe’s Pub (425 Lafayette St., NYC) on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 7pm presented by online contemporary classical community Sequenza21.com and the Manhattan New Music Project. The works to be performed were selected through an open call for scores by ACME artistic director Clarice Jensen, composer and Sequenza21 senior editor Christian Carey, and composer Hayes Biggs.
