May 4-6: Donato Cabrera leads California Symphony in Lara St. John & Beethoven's 9th

Walnut Creek, CA —Guest conductor Donato Cabrera, currently Resident Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony and Music Director of the Green Bay Symphony, will lead the California Symphony in the final concert set of its 25th anniversary season. On Friday, May 4 at Livermore’s Bankhead Theater (2400 First Street, Livermore) and on Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6 at Lesher Center for the Arts’ Hofmann Theatre (1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek), Cabrera conducts the symphony in a program entitled Lara St. John and Beethoven’s Ninth. The concert will feature renowned violinist Lara St. John in Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the California Symphony Festival Chorus, and the world premiere of a work by D. J. Sparr, the Symphony’s Young American Composer Resident.

April 19-20: Donato Cabrera conducts Illinois Symphony Orchestra in youth concert

BLOOMINGTON, IL —One of the Music Director finalists, Donato Cabrera, currently Resident Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony and Music Director of the Green Bay Symphony, will lead the Illinois Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, April 19 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (600 N. East Street, Bloomington, IL), and on Friday, April 20 at Sangamon Auditorium (1 University Place, Springfield, IL) in a program entitled Play Me a Story! Both youth concerts begin at 10am for Grades K-3 and at 12:30pm for Grades 4-6. The concerts will include Prokofiev’s March from Love for Three Oranges; Saint–Saëns’ “Elephant” from Carnival of the Animals; Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee; Respighi’s “Hen” from The Birds; Grofé’s “On the Trail” from Grand Canyon Suite; Ravel’s “Beauty & The Beast” from Mother Goose; Prokofiev’s Waltz from Cinderella; and Williams’ Star Wars.

Feb 11: Donato Cabrera conducts Green Bay Symphony Orchestra in Romance of Spring

GREEN BAY, WI —After two successful performances “skillfully led” (Green Bay Press Gazette) by the orchestra’s new Music Director Donato Cabrera, the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra will perform The Romance of Spring on Saturday, February 11 at 7:30pm at Weidner Center for the Performing Arts (2420 Nicolet Drive). The program includes, Strauss’ Voices of Spring, Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F Minor.

Dec 23: Donato Cabrera conducts Green Bay Symphony Orchestra Christmas concert

GREEN BAY, WI —After a successful opening performance “skillfully led” (Green Bay Press Gazette) by the orchestra’s new Music Director Donato Cabrera, the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the Christmas season on Friday, December 23 at 7:30pm at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral (139 South Madison Street). In an evening entitled Christmas at the Cathedral—Festive Music for Brass and Organ, the diverse program includes traditional Christmas songs from Europe and the Americas.

Oct 14 & 15: Conductor Donato Cabrera leads the Illinois Symphony in Tragedy and Triumph

BLOOMINGTON, IL —Donato Cabrera, currently Resident Conductor of the San Francisco Symphony and Music Director of the Green Bay Symphony, will lead the Illinois Symphony Orchestra on Friday, October 14 at 8pm at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (600 N. East Street, Bloomington, IL), and on Saturday, October 15 at 8pm at Sangamon Auditorium (1 University Place, Springfield, IL) in a program entitled Tragedy and Triumph. The concert will include John Adams’ Chairman Dances, Grieg’s beloved Piano Concerto in A Minor featuring soloist Awadagin Pratt, and Berlioz’s Romeo and Juliet.
