2012-13: Gil Morgenstern's Reflections Series Season Announcement, Celebrates 5 Years

NEW YORK, NY— Violinist and artistic director Gil Morgenstern’s acclaimed Reflections Series celebrates five years of innovative programming in its intimate home at WMP Concert Hall (31 East 28th Street, NYC), described by New York Magazine as, “a miniature version of a European aristocrat’s music room.” Due to the success of the series, most programs will now have two performances. Season tickets are now available. Those who purchase by June 30 will be invited to a VIP Opening Night Party on September 12.

April 25: Gil Morgenstern's Reflections Series concludes the season with Shades of Ravel

NEW YORK, NY— At 7:30pm on Wednesday, April 25, Gil Morgenstern’s celebrated Reflections Series ends the 2011-2012 season in its intimate home, WMP Concert Hall (31 East 28th Street, NYC). Morgenstern, the series’ violinist and artistic director, recently praised for his “rich, penetrating tone” and “hauntingly beautiful interpretation” (New York Times), leads the evening in a program entitled Shades of Ravel. Morgenstern will be once again reunited with cellist Ole Akahoshi and pianist Benjamin Hochman. Exploring the colors of Maurice Ravel’s rich musical palette, the program includes: Joaquín Turina’s Trio No. 2 in B Minor, Op. 76; Germaine Tailleferre’s Berceuse and the Scherzo from Sonata No. 1; Bill Evans’ Peace Piece for solo piano; Amy Beach’s Allegro from Trio, Op. 150; and Maurice Ravel’s Piano Trio.

Feb 16: Gil Morgenstern's Reflections Series continues with A Trio of Duos

NEW YORK, NY— At 7:30pm on Thursday, February 16, Gil Morgenstern’s celebrated Reflections Series continues the 2011-2012 season in its intimate home, WMP Concert Hall (31 East 28th Street, NYC). Morgenstern, the series’ violinist and artistic director, recently praised for his “rich, penetrating tone” and “hauntingly beautiful interpretation” (New York Times), leads the evening in a program entitled A Trio of Duos. Morgenstern will be joined by acclaimed cellist Darrett Adkins. The program includes Kodály’s Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7; Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Cello; and Handel’s Passacaglia, arranged by Norwegian violinist Johan Halvorsen.

Sept 23: Pianist Donald Berman performs w/ violinist Gil Morgenstern at Tufts University

MEDFORD, MA— Violinist and Reflections Series Director Gil Morgenstern and cellist Ole Akahoshi will perform with pianist and Tufts University music faculty member Donald Berman in Piano Trios on the Brink at Tufts University’s Distler Performance Hall in the Perry and Marty Granoff Music Center on Friday, September 23 at 8pm. The trio will feature a performance of Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht (Transfigured Night) in its astonishingly faithful trio version by Eduard Steuermann and Shostakovich’s Trio No. 2 in E Minor. This program was originally created and premiered last year to a capacity audience in New York City as part of Gil Morgenstern’s acclaimed Reflections Series.
